Harvest Season

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2 KJV https://my.bible.com/bible/1/LUK.10.2.KJV

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about this word; I have read this scripture many times, but it never really grabbed me until recently. I mean, I would just read it, say a little prayer, and move on. I am ashamed that I have taken His word as thougth picking a single grape off the Vine just for a taste. I never really meditated on what the Lord was saying here, nor paid much attention to what He was trying to teach me until I heard The Debrief Podcast by Sandals Church on itunes. Pastor Matt Brown spoke of the harvest, and how sometimes we are so focused on our own unsaved family, friends, or relatives we miss those the Lord had placed right in front of our eyes. People who are ripe; ready to hear the Gospel of Christ Jesus, but we have been too preoccupied with our own notions, we missed those the Lord is drawing to His Son.

Today, while sharing with a friend/sister in Christ, she told me about a place she is volunteering and how a certain person has been confiding in her; this person is not a believer. Of course, my sister in Christ knows to pray and love this person as Christ does. She also shared of another sister in Christ whom the Lord had brought in her path a certain person whom He is drawing to His Son. Afterwards, I pondered again, on God’s word, “Pray the Lord of Harvest”  and again,  “For the laborers are few” , instantly, I thought of what Paul says in scripture about praying the Lord God to open doors for those who proclaim the Gospel. To pray that they share the Gospel of Jesus Christ boldly as they should. Paul also spoke of adversity in Philippians, and I began to pray for my sisters in Christ for protection as they are the few laborers in their field.

I also took a step further into understanding, and thought again about the Harvest. I thought to myself, “Why is this time so important to the evil one to cause so much strife, hostility, and division within fields of communities, families, friends, workplace and such. It was then that I realized, “Pray the Lord of Harvest send laborers into His Harvest, for it is great, and laborers are few”.  As long is there is hostility in your mind against someone whom you felt had wrong you, maybe a brother or sister in Christ, or the person you have been praying for their salvation in Christ, but instead of praying, you are intertaining evil thoughts against them.  In otherwords, they are being spiritually attacked, Epesians 6. This is why he says to forgive as God has forgiven you. We as the Body of Christ need to be joined in the Unity of Christ Jesus; working alongside, if not physically, then prayerfully for our brothers and sisters who are. There are people who are ripe and ready all around us, may the Lord of Harvest give us eyes to see, and ears to hear. May the Love of God dwell richly in us, and through us to those whom He is calling to His Son.
