Today

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
Joel 2:12‭-‬13 NIV

Lord, when You call us into repentance, You know our hearts. Some of us, like me, are crying out of the bitterness of our distress. Even then, You don’t turn us away like so many people who can’t handle our UGLY cries. Like David, while in exiled, You were with him. You draw us closer to comfort, listen, heal, and strengthen us. With Compassion, the light of Your Presence gleams through the dark places of my heart and heals us in our innermost being. Thank You, in Your precious, amen.
