Building Your Army

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

After studying narcissism and learning how people become narcissistic, my heart was filled with compassion. Jesus said, pray for your enemies, lend, give, and be merciful as my Father is toward me. I couldn’t because of my woundedness. So, I began to pray for those who wronged me in unforgivable ways. Jesus understands our pain, and He wants to heal us. My sins were unforgivable; He took my place and paid my debts; I don’t have to repay. My slate was cleansed with the Blood Of Jesus. I don’t expect retribution for my suffering any longer because God still has mercy and compassion toward me, a sinner.

As long as we hold on to unforgiveness, we are still hostages, but the door is no longer locked; we are free to walk out and never look back. But it has to be a choice, to intentionally let go of resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness. True freedom came from God’s only begotten Son, who gave Himself for people who deserve hell, yet He said, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Yes, this is not what my itchy ears want to hear, but by the Power and Grace of God, all things are possible.

Father, ABBA, I don’t know what You’re plans are for today, but I know You are with me, and Your grace is sufficient for me to do Your will, and Your will is that none should perish but have eternal life in Christ Jesus. Dear Lord, protect us, our children, and their offspring from the guiles of those who wish to use Your word to bring harm through spiritual abuse. Please give us a discerning spirit and the courage to keep our boundaries solidified by the power of the Holy Spirit against the world’s evils. Please give us eyes to see and ears to hear in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, amen.
