But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-10 NIV
Jesus, You paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and endured the beatings meant for me. The Pharisees ripped their robes; my sins ripped Your Body, and the veil was torn, giving me access to the Holy of Holies and the Throne of Grace.
A crown of thorns was placed on Your head for our disobedience; the curse passed down from generation to generation is broken. The legacy burden of shame, anxiety, fear, perfectionism, rage, hopelessness, negativity, addictions, and what I carried from my ancestors, I now lay down at the foot of Your Cross.
Let me leave a legacy of Love, mercy, compassion, kindness, patience, and hope in Jesus Christ for generations after me. You are crowned with glory. You defeated satan at the cross, and the grave no longer has power over me. When You rose again, You led captives out of the grave. We were called out of darkness into Your wonderful light.
We are now God’s special possession, a holy nation; we bow down and glory in You, KING of kings, LORD of all creation. Mercy was given at the Cross through Your Precious Blood, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.
Our robes were stained with sin, but are now cleansed, made holy, and pure with His Blood. Holy Spirit, fill us, fill our children, and their offspring, and clothe us with the righteousness of Christ. We are crowned with grace. I receive Your mercy through my faith in Jesus Christ and the Atonement of my Redeemer, LORD, and Savior, amen.
