Opinions Of The Minions

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 13:20 NIV

The Bible is not subject to the world’s opinions; God created the world, set boundaries, created every living creature, and said, let us make man in our image.

God did not create man first and then ask our opinion on where He should set things or our opinion about those He made. God is love and commands us to love one another, even if we have to love them at a distance for our safety. So please don’t take this out of context; abuse victims need to feel safe; we don’t tell someone beaten to turn the other cheek; we shelter them in any way possible.

The Bible instructs us to seek the Lord and wise counsel; Paul says to pray about everything and give thanks while we wait. Even Kings sought the Lord through the counsel of God’s prophets before going to war, but first, they sought the Lord in prayer, and the Lord sent messengers to give His answer. Other Kings who pretended to be right with God sought the opinions of foolish counselors and were exposed and, in their pride, were defeated or killed on the battlefield; they may have fooled others, but no one can deceive God. God cannot be mocked. King Jehoshaphat allied himself with King Ahab in battle and suffered a significant loss; many of his men of valor died, and he harmed his reputation by following King Ahab instead of walking away. King Ahab was killed in action because he mocked God’s instruction and went to war anyway.

I thank You, LORD, for a relationship with You through Your Son, my Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Spirit. Thank You for guiding us daily through Your precious gift of prayer and the Holy Bible to instruct us in Your ways. Holy Spirit, I know I can be a stumbling block, so I ask that You help me keep my opinions between God and myself, pray about everything for everyone, and give me Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround us, and our children, and their children with wise friends who seek You and place their trust in You, and give us the strength and courage to walk away from those who will bring us harm, in Jesus’ name, amen.
