“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:3 NIV
https://matthew.bible/matthew-5-3
Lately, I’ve been watching movies about heaven. Before my son’s death, I didn’t think much about heaven until my son went ahead of me. Now, I long for heaven and keep my heart fixed on Jesus, the Maker of heaven and earth. I know how it may appear that I am worshipping my son; no, I worship the Lord for saving us and for His promise that we will be united again. Blessed are the poor in spirit is a state of living by faith in God’s grace through the atonement of His Son’s death for the penalty of my son’s sins and my sins. Jesus’ sacrifice and death cost God everything for a world that rejected Him, yet He gave His only Son, which made heaven bound for all saved by God’s unmerited favor through Christ Jesus. Jesus is alive and well, and He gives us His Spirit, providing us with everything we need according to the richness of His grace.
Dear Lord, thank You for sending Your Son and making a way for us to enter the kingdom of heaven and the joy I will have at the great family reunion with those who have gone ahead of me. I praise You, Lord, for not counting my sins against me, which are many, but washing me clean with the Blood of Jesus and cleansing me of all unrighteousness. Blessed be the Name of the Lord Jesus, who gives and takes away, amen.
