Mercy Calling

Walking Mom Home

Thursday, December 14, 2023, my mother went to be with the Lord. Although my siblings and I grieve her, I can say without a seed of doubt that Jesus, by His mercy, delivered her out of her suffering. I am at peace with her homecoming into the precious arms of our Savior, not because of her good deeds but because of God’s grace. My mom suffered chronic pain for years, and towards the end, she cried out to God to take her home. I can’t even imagine the pain she endured in her fragile eighty-year-old body.

The day before she passed, she lay moaning in pain. I witnessed her speaking to God in tongues, which I did not understand, but after that, she took our hands and said goodbye. I asked her if she saw the glory of the Lord; she smiled and was taken to surgery. She didn’t wake up, and at 4:45 am, she took her last breath here on earth.

The gift of time the Lord has given us with her is so precious to me because we got to send her off with hearts healed and sealed with God’s love. I saw in my heart my mother being greeted into the heavenly gates by family members who had gone ahead of us, where God wiped away all her tears, and without pain, I imagined her running over the bridge into God’s kingdom; oh, the joy she must have felt!

Mommy, I love you so much, and yes, I’m going to miss you, but I will see you clothed in a robe of righteousness washed by the Blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ, amen
