Promise and Prayer

He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”
Isaiah 42:2‭-‬4 NIV

LORD, You will not snuff out a smoldering wick; reignite the fire within me. I remember the days when I sought after You like a bride who delighted in her first love. Oh, how she longed to hear the tender voice of her lover and share the depth of her soul with him.

LORD, You are the lover of my soul, my first love; may I abide in You, and You in me. I am like a bruised reed, battered from the storms of life, yet I cling to the Vine; don’t break me off and throw me in the flames. Without the Vine, I can do nothing; my nourishment comes from Your Son, the true Vine. Father, You are the Gardner. Prune off the things that are not of Him within my inmost parts, and sow seeds of Your Righteousness.

Like an Island, I have drifted far away; draw me back with Your tender mercies; You are the anchor of my soul, the Rock on which I stand, my stronghold. May the mouths of babes praise You, O LORD, may the mouths of little children sing Your praise.

You, O LORD, are a Mighty Warrior; stir up Your zeal and march before us; raise Your battle cry! Mighty Warrior, let the nations see Your mighty acts against those bent on our destruction. They whisper behind closed doors their evil plans against Israel, Your chosen, but You laugh because their ruin awaits them, lest they turn to You and repent. Even if we repent without Holy Sorrow, You will know, for You know the hidden secrets of a man’s heart. Give us the gift of repentance; we have sinned against You, Heavenly Father. By the consequences of our sins, we have been plundered. We have ears but cannot hear; heal our ears. May we hear Your still, small voice say, this is the Way; walk in it, and empower us to do Your will. Open our eyes to the Light of Your Word, for Your Word is the lamp for my feet. With a broken and contrite heart, I seek Your mercy, in Jesus’ name, in whom the world’s Redemption was paid for with His Precious Blood, amen.
