Kayden lost her new beach towel at the birthday party, and she was afraid she would get herself in trouble. It was a long day, and I saw the children were tired and hungry. They were worried that Mommy would be upset. This incident occurred while I was driving home from Evelyn’s birthday party. We lost Kayden’s towel. Mom told us before we left, “Don’t forget the towels!” And so we did.

I came up with a story.

“OK, we will tell your mom that we were all swimming in the hotel swimming pool. We were having a great time. Suddenly, a giant octopus emerged from the water, lifting Kayden. She was wrapped in her towel, yelling for help.

Zeff grabbed Kayden by the foot, freeing her from the giant Octopus’s grip. But the Octopus took the towel!”

Kayden and Zeff looked at me like I was nuts!
Kayden says, “I have a better idea. That’s a lie, the Octopus didn’t steal my towel, let’s tell her the truth; I lost my towel!”
Zeff says, ” Ya, that’s a lie. Tell mommy the truth, except about the cake and candy.”
