Today: Evening Reflection

Evening Reflection — The Light Still Shines

(October 31 — In Loving Memory of Ramon Liles, 9•20•1978 – 10•31•2021)

Scripture:
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

As the day draws to a close, I pause in the quiet.
The world has gone still, and yet, deep within, there is a steady glow —
a light that grief cannot extinguish.

Though my heart aches with remembrance,
I feel Your peace, Lord, resting upon me like a gentle evening breeze.
Ramon’s laughter, his love, his warmth — they echo softly through the chambers of memory.
The ache remains, but so does the light.

In this stillness, I sense Your promise — that death is not the end,
that love endures beyond the veil, and that light always finds its way home.
The shadows remind me of Your nearness, not Your absence.
Even in loss, You are Emmanuel — God with us.

Prayer:
Lord, as I lay this day before You,
I thank You for the gift of my son’s life —
for every joy he brought, and every lesson his love still teaches me.
Let the light of his memory shine within my heart,
not as sorrow, but as gratitude.
Wrap this night in Your peace,
and let Your eternal light guide me until morning.

Journal Prompt:
Where have I seen God’s light shining through my grief today?
What memory brought peace to my heart tonight?
