Testing the Spirits: A Path Back to Truth
Confusion Is Not From God
Your Anchor is the Truth and Knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Righteousness.
“God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.”
—1 Corinthians 14:33
Reflection (Short Devotional)
After being awakened to the truth, I couldn’t process much. I felt like I needed to be spoon-fed; too much information overwhelmed me. After being gaslit my entire childhood and marriage, I couldn’t swallow too much. So I portioned this out in small increments.
If you feel constantly confused, anxious, or unsure of yourself in a relationship, pause.
That confusion may not be weakness.
It may be a warning.
The Bible tells us to test the spirits. Not everything that sounds loving is loving. Not everything that quotes Scripture is from God. Some voices use religion, kindness, or authority to control rather than to heal.
God’s Spirit brings peace, clarity, and truth—even when the truth is hard.
Abuse brings confusion, self-doubt, and fear.
If you are constantly questioning your memory, your motives, or your worth, something is wrong. God does not gaslight His children.
Sacred Pause
Take one slow breath in.
Exhale slowly.
Ask quietly:
“God, is this confusion coming from You?”
Prayer
Lord,
If I have learned to doubt myself because of another’s words,
gently lead me back to truth.
Restore my clarity.
Amen.
