In Whose Name Do You Praise?
Morning Prayer
The Echo of David’s song in Psalm 29
Psalm 29:
“Ascribe to the LORD, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.
The voice of the LORD is over the waters.
The God of glory thunders.
His voice is powerful.
His voice is majestic.”
LORD, I come before You in stillness. Quiet every divided thought, every old reflex of self-reliance, and every place in me that still resists full surrender. Teach my heart to seek You with devotion, trust, and holy reverence. Align the spiritual and the physical under Your lordship, and let my worship rise in the name of Jesus.
Father, this morning, I thank You for teaching me to seek You with trust and devotion.
There was a time when I relied on my own strength. I depended on my own understanding and my ability to manage what was before me.
You are now teaching me a deeper way. I seek You as one who looks to You for guidance. I rely on You for provision, protection, and peace.
LORD, this daily surrender is holy.
It is not weakness.
It is worship.
It is the laying down of self-rule at the feet of the Creator of all things.
It is the quiet alignment of Spirit, soul, and body beneath Your loving authority.
Forgive me for the places where I still cling to independence when You are calling me into trust.
Forgive me for every divided place in me, where my lips say I trust You. My habits still lean on my own strength.
Align my whole life with You.
Let my body, mind, emotions, and Spirit come under the peace of Christ.
Your Word declares in Psalm 29 that the voice of the LORD is over the waters.
The God of glory thunders.
The voice of the LORD is powerful.
The voice of the LORD is majestic.
You are not a distant force.
You are not the universe.
You are the God who made the universe, and all creation obeys You.
Keep me anchored in truth.
Do not let my heart be drawn to the language of the world that praises creation while forgetting the Creator.
The heavens belong to You.
The seas belong to You.
The stars, the winds, and the mighty waters all answer to Your command.
You alone are worthy of worship.
So this morning I asked myself:
In whose name do I praise?
Not in the name of fate.
Not in the name of energy.
Not in the name of the universe.
I praise in the name of Jesus.
Jesus, You are the Word made flesh.
You are the visible image of the invisible God.
You are the One through whom all things were made.
You are the voice of the LORD that still speaks peace, order, truth, and life.
Teach me to worship rightly.
Teach me to trust deeply.
Teach me to ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name.
Father, I repent seeking after my own strengths.
Forgive me for every place I have looked to create things for what only You can give.
Forgive me for every remnant of self-reliance. Forgive me for every divided loyalty. Forgive me for every hidden fear that keeps me from resting fully in Your care.
Wash me clean, and let my worship be sincere and true.
Today, let my life praise You in the name of Jesus.
Let my trust deepen.
Let my devotion grow.
Let my whole being align beneath Your lordship.
And let the voice of the LORD rule over every lesser voice within me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Noon Reflection
The Creator, Not Creation
“The voice of the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the desert of Kadesh.”
By midday, the heart can easily drift back into self-reliance. It can also fall into the world’s subtle language. This language glorifies created things rather than the Creator.
How often people say, the universe will give, as though creation itself holds authority.
But creation is not sovereign.
Creation is not holy.
Creation does not rule.
The Word of God upholds the universe itself and remains under His command.
Psalm 29 reminds us of who truly reigns.
The voice of the LORD is over the waters.
His voice is powerful.
His voice is majestic.
This is not poetic exaggeration.
It is a holy truth.
The God who made all things still governs all things.
For the heart learning trust, this matters deeply.
God, as the true Creator, can guide, give, and protect. He does this far beyond what our own strength can secure.
If His voice rules over the waters, then His voice can also rule over our fears. It can rule over our striving, our uncertainty, and every place within us that still trembles.
To seek the LORD as a wife would seek her husband in trust is not passivity.
It is holy dependence.
It is acknowledging that life comes into order when we live under His care. Life becomes disordered under the burden of self-rule.
So the question remains before the soul:
In whose name do you praise?
The answer reveals where trust is resting.
Midday Prayer
LORD, draw my heart back into truth in this hour.
Where I have drifted into self-reliance, call me back to surrender.
Where I have been tempted to look at creation more than the Creator, correct me gently and firmly.
Let Your truth realign me.
Forgive me for every place I have given glory to what You made instead of to You.
Forgive me for subtle thoughts that forgot Your sovereignty.
Teach me again that You alone are God, and that all things answer to Your voice.
Let the voice of the LORD rule over my thoughts, my fears, and my desires.
And let the rest of this day be filled with holy trust, under the lordship of Christ.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Evening Prayer
“The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!” The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. The LORD gives strength to His people. The LORD blesses His people with peace.”
The Voice of the LORD
LORD, as this day comes to a close, I return to You with thanksgiving.
Thank You for every quiet reminder that You are God and I am safely held in Your care.
Thank You for every place where You taught me trust instead of striving. You taught me to surrender instead of self-rule. You taught me worship instead of fear.
Tonight, I rest again in the truth that You are the Creator of all things.
The heavens are Yours.
The earth is Yours.
The waters are Yours.
And my life is Yours.
Nothing in creation stands apart from Your authority, and nothing in my life is beyond Your sight or care.
If I leaned again on my own understanding, Today, forgive me.
If I looked to lesser things for comfort, wisdom, or security, forgive me.
If my heart became divided between trusting You and managing everything by myself, have mercy on me.
I repent of every place where self-reliance tried to rise again.
Let the voice of the LORD speak peace over me tonight.
Speak over the restless places.
Speak over the weary places.
Speak over every fear of tomorrow.
Let Your powerful and majestic voice bring stillness within me as I rest.
And let my praise stay clear and true.
In whose name do I praise?
The name of Jesus.
In whose name do I worship?
The name of Jesus.
In whose name do I place my trust, my future, and my life?
The name of Jesus.
Keep me aligned beneath Your lordship.
Keep my devotion sincere.
Keep my worship holy.
And let my soul sleep under the covering of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Sacred Pause
The universe is not God.
It obeys God.
The voice of the LORD is powerful.
The voice of the LORD is majestic.
In whose name do you praise?
I praise the name of Jesus.
