The Lord called His people to repent so that He could heal the land. God is Righteous and Holy; He can’t heal until sin is confessed. He was urging them to turn away from all that violates Love. This includes idolatry, pride, injustice, cruelty, and the hardness of heart that destroys what God desires to make whole. Sin is not only what breaks fellowship with God. It also tears down our neighbor instead of building them up. That is why Romans 15 calls us to Love in a way that strengthens others. When Love is multiplied—holy Love, truthful Love, repentant Love—it brings healing, because it agrees with the heart of God.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, search my heart for every sin that tears down what You long to heal. Remove pride, lovelessness, and bitterness. Uproot every false way in me. Teach me to repent quickly, to Love truthfully, and to build up where the enemy has tried to destroy. Let Your Love multiply in us until healing begins to flow through hearts, homes, and the land. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
The parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son reveal something holy. It is humbling, too: heaven rejoices over the one who repents. Not because that one was worse than everyone else, but because repentance opens the door for restoration, reconciliation, and life. The Shepherd goes after the one who is lost. The woman searches carefully for the missing coin. The Father watches and runs to meet the son, who finally comes home.
What Love is this?
It is the Love of God that does not flatter pride but responds to repentance with rejoicing. Jesus said there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents. There is less joy over those who believe they do not need to repent. That is not because the others are truly righteous in themselves. It is because pride blinds the heart to its own need. The one who repents has come into agreement with truth: I am lost without the Savior. I can’t heal myself. I need mercy. I need to come home.
And the truth is, we are all that one.
We are all sinners in need of the Savior.
We have all wandered in thought, in attitude, in wish, in pride, in indifference, in fear, or in rebellion. None of us stands by our own goodness. None of us heals the land through self-righteousness. Healing begins when hearts bow low, repent, and return to the Father.
Love multiplied brings healing to the land. This is because true Love does not deny sin. It leads us out of it. It calls us home. It teaches us to repent, to get mercy, and then to extend that same mercy to others. The healed heart becomes a healing presence. The forgiven become those who forgive. The restored become those who help restore.
And heaven rejoices.
Not because pride says, I am fine as I am.
But over humility that says, Lord, have mercy on me.
Not over the appearance of righteousness,
But over the sinner who comes home.
So let the heart stay tender here.
Let it not harden itself in comparison.
Let it not take refuge in religious pride.
Let it be remembered that every soul needs grace.
The land is healed one repentant heart at a time. Each time one turns back to God, heaven joyfully bears witness.
A quiet prayer of repentance and return
Lord Jesus,
We confess that we are all sinners in need of You. Forgive us for the pride that acts as though we are whole without repentance. Forgive us for the ways we have wandered from Your heart—in thought, word, deed, and silence. Search us and show us where we have been lost, hardened, careless, or self-righteous.
Thank You. You are the Shepherd who seeks. You are the Father who welcomes. You are the Savior who rejoices when the lost come home.
Teach us to repent quickly and sincerely. Let Your mercy humble us. Heal us. Make us gentle toward others who are still finding their way back to You. Multiply Your Love in us until it begins to heal hearts, homes, and the land.
In Jesus’ Name, amen.
Heaven rejoices where pride bows low, repentance rises, and the lost are welcomed home.
