Day’s Journey Children’s Ministry: Mahle the Spotted Lamb: Heated by Hurt

When Mahle’s Heart Felt Hot

Scripture Anchor
“I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin.”
Psalm 39:1

Quiet Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Please help me when my heart feels hurt, left out, or sad.
Teach me to come to You with my feelings.
Help me speak kindly and trust Your Love.
Amen.

One day, Mahle the spotted lamb felt hurt inside.

Some of the other lambs did not make him feel welcome. Mahle tried to stay quiet. He did not want to say the wrong thing. He did not want to get in trouble. But the more he held his hurt inside, the hotter his heart began to feel.

Mahle sat down in the grass with tears in his eyes.

Just then, the Lion came near and sat beside him.

The Lion looked at Mahle with gentle eyes and asked,
“Mahle, why is your little heart so heavy?”

Mahle lowered his head and said,
“I feel hurt. I feel left out. I want to be kind, but my heart feels hot inside.”

The Lion stayed close and said,
“Mahle, you do not have to hide your hurt from Me. Bring it to Me. I will help you.”

Mahle looked up and listened carefully.

The Lion said,
“When your heart feels hot, do not let anger take over.
When your feelings feel big, do not let bitterness grow.
Come to Me. Tell Me the truth. I will help you Love without pretending you are not hurt.”

Mahle whispered,
“But what if others do not Love me well?”

The Lion answered,
“I Love you well. I do not only say I love you—I show you. My love is true, and My love will help your heart.”

Mahle took a deep breath.

Then the Lion gently said,
“You can pray instead of saying hurtful things.
You can tell the truth without being mean.
You can forgive while I heal your heart.”

Mahle nodded.

The hot feeling in his heart began to cool. He was still sad, but now he knew what to do.

He could bring his hurt to the Lion.

And the Lion would help him stay in Love.

Little Truth

Sometimes people may hurt our feelings.
Sometimes we may feel left out or forgotten.
But Jesus, our Lion, helps us with our big feelings.
He teaches us not to let anger take over our hearts.
He helps us tell the truth, forgive, and remember that we are deeply loved.
