Day’s Journey Reflection
Let There Be Life on Our Lips
Scripture for the Journey
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
—Joshua 1:8 NKJV
God did not instruct Joshua merely to hear His Word or carry it beneath his arm. He told Joshua to keep it in his mouth, meditate upon it day and night, and carefully obey what was written.
The Word was to become part of Joshua’s thoughts, speech, decisions, and daily walk.
There is a difference between knowing the Word and allowing the Word to govern us. We can hear Scripture, quote Scripture, and even teach Scripture while resisting the very obedience it requires. James reminds us:
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
—James 1:22 NKJV
God’s Word is not given merely to increase our knowledge. It is given to transform our lives.
When His Word remains in our hearts, it begins to shape what comes from our mouths. Fear does not have to speak the loudest. Anger does not have to control our response. Bitterness does not have to dictate our decisions. The Holy Spirit can bring God’s truth back to our remembrance and teach us what to say, when to speak, and when to remain silent.
The same God who spoke into darkness and said, “Let there be light,” can place life upon our lips.
He can teach us to speak hope into despair, peace into confusion, truth into deception, and grace into wounded places. Our words do not possess God’s creative power, but when we surrender them to Him, they can carry His truth, comfort, correction, and compassion.
Therefore, we pray:
Lord, let there be life on our lips. Let there be life in our hearts, so bitterness cannot take root. Let there be life in our minds, so fear and condemnation cannot rule over us. Let there be life upon our tongues, so our words do not wound those You have called us to Love.
God’s definition of prosperity and success is not limited to material possessions, recognition, or ease. Biblical success begins with walking faithfully in the way God has commanded. It is found in obedience, wisdom, integrity, stewardship, and a life that brings glory to Him.
The road may still be difficult. Opposition may still arise. Healing may take time. Finances may require discipline and wisdom. Relationships may need forgiveness, boundaries, repentance, and restoration. Yet nothing is impossible with God.
He can heal what is broken within us. He can teach us to steward what He has entrusted to us. He can release us from unforgiveness, resentment, and bitterness. He can give prudence to our children and discernment to their children. He can protect us from deception and strengthen us against the schemes of evil.
He can even turn our prayers toward those who have harmed us—not by excusing wickedness, but by asking that deception be exposed, evil plans be stopped, and lost souls be brought to repentance through Jesus Christ.
We do not pray for evil to prosper. We pray for truth to prevail.
We do not ask God to overlook injustice. We ask Him to defeat the works of darkness while rescuing those who have become servants of deception. The Lord is patient, “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
Therefore, we can pray for protection without hatred, justice without vengeance, and repentance without compromise. Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
Our confidence is not in our own strength. Our victory is not found in positive thinking, human power, or the force of our own words. Our confidence is in Jesus Christ—the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Living Word.
What is impossible for us remains possible with God. May His abundance flow to us and through us—not merely for our comfort, but for our good, the good of others, and His glory.
Sacred Pause
Pause before the Lord and ask:
Is God’s Word merely familiar to me, or is it directing the way I live?
Do my words bring life, truth, peace, and grace—or do they sometimes carry fear, bitterness, or condemnation?
Is there any unforgiveness, resentment, or familiar pattern that I need to release Today?
Sit quietly for a moment.
Invite the Holy Spirit to bring one Scripture to your remembrance. Speak it aloud, meditate upon it, and ask God to help you obey it Today.
Prayer for the Journey
Lord of all creation, Almighty God,
I praise Your holy name, King of kings and Lord of lords. I come before You with a heart of gratitude. Thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and for every blessing You provide for our good, the good of others, and Your glory.
Help us, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, to be doers of Your Word and not hearers only. Open our ears to hear Your voice saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Guide our steps. Bring to our remembrance everything You have taught us. Provide all that we need according to the abundance of Your grace, steadfast Love, and faithfulness.
Bless the fruit of our lips and teach us to speak life. You are Life. You created all things when You said, “Let there be.”
O Lord, let there be life upon our lips.
Let there be life in our hearts, our minds, and upon our tongues. Guard our words so they do not bring unnecessary harm. Teach us to speak truth with Love, wisdom, courage, grace, and compassion.
Be exalted, O Lord, above everything that rises against us. We place our confidence in You, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
Glory be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
What is impossible for us is possible with You.
Lord, heal what is broken within us. Heal our bodies, minds, and spirits according to Your wisdom and will. Bring order to our finances and teach us to be faithful stewards of everything You have entrusted to us.
Let Your provision flow to us and through us so that we may bless others and glorify Your name.
Give us breakthroughs that lead us into greater obedience, maturity, faithfulness, and freedom.
I release every form of unforgiveness, resentment, and bitterness that has kept me bound to painful or familiar patterns. Replace them with the mercy and forgiveness You have given me through Jesus Christ.
Open our eyes to see through the light of Your goodness, perfect Love, mercy, and compassion.
Lord, command Your angels concerning us according to Your will. Protect us, our children, and their offspring from deception, wickedness, and the schemes of evil men and women. Give our families prudence, wisdom, courage, and discernment.
You have taught us to pray for our enemies. Therefore, expose and stop every evil plan. Let every weapon formed against Your purposes fail.
Save the souls of those who have submitted themselves to lies and wickedness. Pour out conviction that leads to true repentance. Lead them to the cross of Jesus Christ, Your Son.
You are not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Blessed be the name of the Lord, who gives the fruit of the Vine.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen.
Prayer of Repentance
Merciful Father,
Forgive me for the times I have heard Your Word but resisted obeying it.
Forgive me for speaking from fear, anger, pride, bitterness, impatience, or unbelief instead of allowing Your Spirit to govern my words.
Forgive me for the times I have used Scripture to correct others while failing to examine my own heart.
Search me, O God, and reveal anything within me that does not honor You. Cleanse my heart, renew my mind, and place a steadfast Spirit within me.
Teach me to meditate upon Your Word day and night—not only with my thoughts, but through faithful obedience.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Just Give Today
Today, choose one verse to carry with you.
Write it down.
Speak it aloud.
Meditate upon it.
Then ask the Lord to show you one practical way to obey it before the day ends.
Let His Word remain in your heart.
Let His truth guide your steps.
And let there be life upon your lips.
