Today

Everything written in the past was written to teach us so that we might have hope through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide.

Recently a dear friend said, “Can you imagine how things would have been if you didn’t know the Lord after all you’ve been through?” When things are good, it’s easy to praise the Lord and say without a doubt God is good. However, that day, her words pierced my heart as I pondered how God’s goodness was closer than a brother through every heartache, loss, fear, and triumph. I felt His every embrace through His Holy Word, and indeed by a friend and even strangers. A tender smile and a tear shed by a man I did not know when I grieved the loss of my firstborn and only son. I saw compassion when I cried out against the injustice amongst a group of people who did not know me and reached out to help in my time of need. For every trial and tribulation, a stone of remembrance was placed in my mind and filled my heart with gratitude as a tribute to the Goodness of God. The word of God is the lamp for our feet.

Dear Lord, as we walk through this day, may Your Spirit guide us in every way, and may the Light of Your Presence go before us, within us, and through us, casting out all darkness from within and those around us. May You alone be exalted in everything we do, for the Glory of God Almighty; we pray in Jesus’ Name, amen.
