Zephaniah 2:2
Warning to the Nations
“Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O undesirable nation. 2 Before the decree is issued, or the day passes like chaff before the LORD’S fierce anger comes upon you! Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden on the day of the LORD’s anger.
It would be good if we lived in a perfect world. Everyone would get along. They would follow the laws and decrees of our LORD. But, we know that there is only One who is Perfect, and who God is thoroughly pleased with. That is, our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our righteousness is disgusting in the sight of God because it often accompanies pride, arrogance, and, indeed, self-righteousness. We don’t live in a perfect world. We live in the devil’s playground. We need God and His mighty angels to fight on our behalf. To uphold justice, here on earth as it is in heaven. We don’t fight against flesh and blood. We fight against evil forces in the air. We combat in the spiritual realms through prayers. The prayers of the saints are powerful when we humble ourselves before God. We are witnessing the boldness of evil. Let the prayers of the saints rise up. They will storm the gates of heaven. Don’t think that we will not be affected, if we keep silent; pray.
LORD, I am guilty! My anger against those who mock the LORD is righteous. I kept silent as I watched cities being destroyed. My heart was ripped to pieces as I saw people sticking out their tongues and pointing fingers at Your servants and mocking You! They were destroying Your land, the earth, and everything in it, made by Your Hands. We need You, God! LORD, I pray for those who uphold the laws of the land and justice. I pray for those who serve in our communities, our government, cities, states, and our country. LORD, You are the Captain and Chief of the LORD’S Army. Rise, O Mighty One, and protect those who protect us. Surround them with the LORD’S Army of Angels, and fight for Your cause. We seek You, and Your Righteousness, let the nations see that You are God, our God, whom we serve. Wash us with the Blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and let the Righteousness of God be exalted in and through Your Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever, and ever, amen.
