Let Us Meditate on His Wonderful Works
As David sings praise to God the King, he declares that he will exalt the name of the Lord forever and ever. Every day, he will bless Him. Every day, he will praise His name. For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised. His greatness is so vast that no one can fully fathom it.
What a comfort this is for the weary heart: that even when we do not understand all God is doing, we can still rest in who He is. His greatness is not diminished by our lack of understanding. His majesty does not depend on our ability to explain it. He is glorious, faithful, and worthy—far beyond what our minds can hold.
And yet, David does not stop with his own praise. He looks outward and onward: One generation shall commend Your works to another. This is the calling of those who have seen the goodness of God—to tell of His mighty acts, to speak of His faithfulness, to remember aloud what He has done. Praise becomes testimony. Testimony becomes inheritance.
So let us meditate on His wonderful works.
Let us remember His mercy when we were weak.
Let us remember His faithfulness when we were uncertain.
Let us remember His kindness when we felt forgotten.
Let us remember His power when we had none of our own.
For as we meditate on His wonderful works, our hearts are steadied. We learn again how to walk in reverence. We are reminded that His Word is trustworthy, His ways are good, and His greatness is beyond measure. Praise is not only the response of the lips; it becomes the posture of a life that remembers.
Sacred Pause
Sit quietly for a moment.
What wonderful works of God have your heart nearly forgotten because life has been heavy?
What mercy, provision, rescue, or tenderness does He want you to remember again Today?
Let one memory of His faithfulness rise gently before Him in thanks.
A prayer of repentance and renewal
Lord Jesus,
Forgive me for the times I have rushed through my days without pausing to praise You. Forgive me for letting worry speak louder than remembrance, and for forgetting the wonderful works You have already done in my life. Cleanse my heart of dullness, distraction, and unbelief.
Teach me to meditate on Your greatness.
Teach me to speak of Your faithfulness.
Teach me to live in a way that passes on the memory of Your goodness to another generation.
Let praise rise in me like the morning sun again, and again—not only in song, but in how I trust You, obey You, and remember You. For You are great, and greatly to be praised.
In Jesus’ Name, amen.
When the heart remembers His wonderful works, praise becomes the pathway back to trust.
