Day’s Journey Youth Reflection
Scripture Anchor:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
— Romans 10:15
The youth room was quiet after everyone left.
Chairs were pushed in. Empty water bottles sat near the trash can. A few Bibles were still open on the table from the evening lesson. Outside the window, the sky was turning deep blue, and the lights from the basketball court glowed across the pavement.
Matthias sat alone near the back of the room with his hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands.
His Bible was open to Romans 10, but his eyes were no longer moving across the page.
Kazim had gone to help put the chairs away.
Azzah was gathering notebooks.
Kayden was stacking papers from the youth ministry table.
Brent noticed Matthias sitting quietly and walked over.
“You good?” Brent asked.
Matthias gave a small shrug.
“I don’t know.”
Brent sat in the chair beside him.
Matthias looked down at the open Bible. “Sometimes I wonder why I keep sharing the Gospel.”
Brent stayed quiet and let him talk.
“I post scriptures. I invite people to the youth group. I share what Jesus is doing in my life. Sometimes I feel like I’m just speaking into the wind.”
He looked toward the empty chairs.
“Like the seed gets blown away before it ever reaches anybody.”
Brent leaned back slowly.
“I get that.”
Matthias looked at him. “Do you?”
Brent nodded. “Yeah. But I also think you don’t always know where the seed lands.”
Matthias sighed. “That’s what people say. But sometimes it’s hard when you don’t see anything growing.”

Brent was quiet for a moment.
Then he said, “Can I tell you something?”
Matthias nodded.
Brent looked down at his hands. “Before I came here, I was not walking with Christ. I knew about God, but I didn’t really know Him. I was carrying stuff I didn’t know how to talk about. Fear. Anger. Confusion. I acted like I was fine, but I wasn’t.”
Matthias listened.
Brent continued, “One night, I saw a post about Jesus. It wasn’t even from someone I knew personally. Someone shared it, then someone else shared it, and somehow it ended up on my screen.”
He looked at Matthias.
“It said something about Christ setting us free and not going back to the old yoke.”
Matthias’s eyes widened a little.
Brent smiled gently. “Yeah. Galatians 5. That word stayed with me.”
Matthias sat up straighter.
Brent went on. “I didn’t comment. I didn’t like it. I didn’t message anybody. Nobody knew I saw it. But I read it more than once. Then later, I heard someone at school talking about youth ministry, and I remembered that post.”
He paused.
“That was one of the seeds.”
Matthias swallowed.
Brent looked toward the front of the room.
“I didn’t even know you then. I didn’t know who was praying, posting, inviting, or testifying. But God knew. He used words that seemed small to reach me when I was alone.”
The room grew still.
Matthias looked back down at Romans 10.

Brent pointed gently to the page.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call if they have not believed? How can they believe if they have not heard? How can they hear unless someone tells them?”
Matthias whispered, “And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?”
Brent nodded.
“You may feel like you’re speaking into the wind,” he said. “But maybe the wind is carrying the seed somewhere God already prepared.”
Azzah had stopped gathering notebooks. She looked over from the table.
Kayden stood quietly with the papers in her hands.

Kazim walked back in carrying a stack of chairs, then froze when he sensed the room had become serious.
“What did I miss?” Kazim asked softly.
Brent smiled. “Matthias was wondering if the seed matters when he can’t see the harvest.”
Kazim set the chairs down.
“It matters,” he said. “Some of us act like we’re not listening, but we are.”
Kayden nodded. “Sometimes people read and never respond. But that doesn’t mean God didn’t use it.”
Azzah stepped closer. “The seed belongs to God.”
Matthias breathed out slowly.
“I guess I keep wanting proof.”
Brent’s voice softened.
“I’m proof.”
Matthias looked at him.
Brent smiled. “Not because of one person. Not because of one post. But because God used many seeds. Some were planted by people who never knew they reached me.”
The words settled into Matthias’s heart.
He had been measuring obedience by what he could see. Likes.
Comments. Responses. Numbers.
People are showing up.
But God had been working, but the results aren’t clear.
Matthias looked again at the verse:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.”
Maybe beautiful feet are not always noticed.
Maybe beautiful feet keep walking when the road feels quiet.
Maybe beautiful feet carry the Gospel even when the messenger feels unseen.
Matthias closed his Bible gently.
“I don’t want to stop testifying,” he said.
Kayden smiled.
Azzah nodded. “Then don’t.”
Kazim grinned. “Keep preaching, bro.”
Brent placed a hand over his heart.
“And trust God with the seed,” Brent said, reminding us that His timing and plan are bigger than what we see or understand.
Matthias looked around at his friends.
The youth room was still quiet. The chairs were still empty. The night was still settling outside.
But something inside him had lifted.
He did not have to make the seed grow.
He did not have to know where it landed.
He did not have to see every harvest.
His part was to be faithful.
God’s part was to bring the increase.
And if the wind carried the seed beyond Matthias’s sight, maybe it was not lost at all.
Maybe it was being sent.
Youth Reflection
Sometimes sharing the Gospel can feel discouraging, but remaining faithful reminds you that your effort matters to God.
You may invite someone, and they do not come.
You may post Scripture, and no one responds.
You may speak about Jesus and wonder if anyone is listening.
But Romans 10 reminds us that people need to hear the Good News. Someone has to speak. Someone has to testify. Someone has to plant the seed.
You may not always see where the seed lands.
But God sees.
Some people are listening quietly. Some people are reading without commenting. Some people are being reached in ways you may never know.
Your job is not to force the harvest.
Your job is to be faithful with the seed.
God is the One who makes it grow.
Think About It
Have you ever felt discouraged because you could not see the fruit of your obedience?
Who might need to hear the Good News through your kindness, testimony, prayer, or courage?
Prayer of Repentance and Faithfulness
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the Good News that saves.
Forgive me for the times I have grown discouraged because I could not see results. Forgive me for measuring obedience by attention, likes, comments, approval, or visible fruit.
Help me remember that the seed belongs to You.
Teach me to testify with humility and Love. Teach me to keep sharing Your goodness, even when I feel like I am speaking into the wind.
Holy Spirit, strengthen me when I feel unseen. Remind me that you are working in places I cannot see and in hearts I may never know.
Let the seed of the Gospel land where You intend. Let it grow in Your timing. Let my life become a faithful witness to Jesus Christ.
Make my feet beautiful with the Good News.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
