Day’s Journey Reflection

Streams in the Wasteland
Quiet Prayer
Lord Jesus, open our eyes to perceive the new thing You are doing. Let refreshing waters flow through our homes, our hearts, our children, and their offspring. Amen.
As I pondered the goodness of God this morning, I prayed for those whom I served in their home.
As I prayed, I saw a river running through it.
A spring of refreshing waters flowed through this home, and I said, “LORD, let this be for all Your children. Let our children and their offspring rejoice in Your goodness and experience Your lovingkindness.”
Then I walked into the kitchen and filled a glass with water.
I paused and thanked the LORD for the clean water running through the faucet.
Something so ordinary suddenly felt sacred.
Then I walked over to the dog’s half-full bowl, picked it up, rinsed it out, and filled it with fresh, clean water.
Again, my heart praised the LORD.
Even the animals are cared for by His hand.
As I filled the pot with water for my coffee, I thanked Him again. Clean water to drink. Clean water to refresh. Clean water to prepare what I needed for the day.
Water was everywhere that morning.
Not just in the sink.
Not just in the bowl.
Not just in the coffee pot.
But in the Spirit.
The LORD was showing me His provision, His refreshment, and His promise.
Then I opened my Bible to Isaiah 43, the word already provided for the day. I read the whole chapter, but what illuminated most was the promise of God doing a new thing:
He makes a way in the wilderness.
He brings streams into the wasteland.
He provides water in dry places for His people, the ones He formed for Himself, so that they may proclaim His praise.
What a tender reminder.
There are places in our lives that have felt like wilderness.
There are places in our families that have felt dry.
There are places in our hearts that have longed for refreshing.
But the LORD is not absent from the wilderness.
He is the God who makes a way where there was no way.
He is the God who causes springs to rise in dry places.
He is the God who provides water in the wasteland.
And if the wild animals honor Him because He provides water in the wilderness, how much more should His children praise Him for every stream of mercy, every cup of provision, every clean bowl filled, every quiet morning, every new thing springing up?
This morning, the water preached to me.
The faucet preached.
The dog’s bowl preached.
The coffee pot preached.
The Word of God preached.
And the message was simple:
God is still providing.
God is still refreshing.
God is still doing a new thing.
May refreshing waters flow through our homes.
May our children and their offspring rejoice in His goodness.
May the weary be renewed.
May the dry places become springs.
May all creation proclaim His praise.
Sacred Pause
Lord, where are You bringing streams into my wasteland?
What ordinary provision have I overlooked that deserves thanksgiving?
How can I proclaim Your praise Today?
Prayer of Repentance
Father God,
Forgive me for the times I overlooked Your daily provision. Forgive me for taking clean water, shelter, food, breath, and ordinary mercies for granted.
Forgive me for focusing so much on the wilderness that I failed to notice the streams You were already providing.
Cleanse my heart of complaint, unbelief, and forgetfulness. Give me eyes to perceive the new thing You are doing. Teach me to praise You in the ordinary moments and to remember that every good gift comes from You.
Let my home, my work, my family, my children, and their offspring be refreshed by the living waters of Your presence.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Let rivers of living water flow through our homes and hearts. Refresh every weary soul. Provide for every child, every family, every widow, every orphan, every servant, and every creature You have made.
Make a way in the wilderness. Bring streams into the wasteland. Let our children and their offspring rejoice in Your goodness and experience Your lovingkindness.
May all creation honor You.
May Your people proclaim Your praise.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Soli Deo Gloria
