The Little Things That Matter
Day’s Journey Reflection

When we remember the little things that matter to someone and act on them, we show Love.
Not only with words.
Not only with intentions.
But with remembrance.
We are saying, “What matters to you matters to me.”
There is something deeply tender about being remembered rightly. To have someone notice what brings us joy, what comforts us, what strengthens us, and even what grieves or repulses us, can feel like being seen with care.
One day, my son reminded me of the things I loved and the things I hated.
Yes, hate is a strong word. But here, I mean the things that are repulsive to the soul—things I cannot tolerate because they work against truth, Love, and righteousness. Things like manipulation and deception.
May the LORD give us discernment.
Love does not mean we become blind to evil. Love does not ask us to accept manipulation as peace or deception as kindness. True Love walks with wisdom. True Love remembers what matters. True Love seeks what is righteous, pure, and pleasing to God.
Today’s word is Daniel 12:3:
“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
There is a shining that comes from wisdom.
Not the shining that seeks attention.
Not the kind that performs for approval.
Not the kind that wants to be seen by people.
But the quiet brightness of a life that leads others toward righteousness.
A life that remembers.
A life that loves.
A life that tells the truth.
A life that refuses deception.
A life that points many back to the LORD.
I think of Jesus asking Peter three times, “Do you Love Me?”
Peter answered, “Yes, LORD, You know that I Love You.”
But by the third time, Peter was grieved. Perhaps the repeated question reached deeper than words. Jesus was not asking Peter for empty affection. He was calling Peter into a Love that would feed His sheep.
Love for Jesus is not only spoken.
Love for Jesus is lived.
If we Love Him, we care for what matters to Him.
If we Love Him, we feed His lambs.
If we Love Him, we tend His sheep.
If we Love Him, we lead others toward righteousness.
If we Love Him, we remember that souls matter.
Peter’s grief did not disqualify him. His failure did not have the final word. Jesus restored him and entrusted him with care for others.
That gives me hope.
The LORD knows all things. He knows whether I Love Him. He knows my weakness, my grief, my history, my longing, and my desire for truth. He knows the things I Love. He knows the things I cannot tolerate because they destroy what is holy.
And He still asks:
“Do you Love Me?”
LORD, You know all things.
You know that I Love You.
Then help me feed Your sheep.
Help me remember what matters to You.
Help me Love people with wisdom and truth.
Help me lead many toward righteousness.
Help me shine, not for myself, but for Your glory.
Let my heart Love You, LORD, for the sake of the salvation of many.
To God be the glory.

Ask gently before the LORD:
What little things matter to the people God has placed in my life?
What matters to Jesus that He is asking me to care for?
Where do I need discernment between true Love and manipulation or deception?
Then pray:
LORD, You know all things. You know that I Love You. Teach me to Love what You Love, reject what grieves You, and lead others toward righteousness.
Prayer of Repentance, Discernment, and Love
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Thank You for remembering me with Love. Thank You for seeing what matters to my heart. Thank You for the people You have used to remind me that I am known, seen, and loved.
Forgive me for the times I have forgotten the little things that matter to others. Forgive me for being careless with tender hearts, distracted from Love, or slow to notice what someone needed.
Lord, give me discernment. Help me recognize manipulation, deception, and anything that works against truth and righteousness. Keep my heart from bitterness, but also keep me from blindness. Teach me to Love with wisdom.
Jesus, You asked Peter, “Do you Love Me?” And You called him to feed Your sheep.
LORD, You know all things. You know that I Love You.
Help me Love You not only with words, but with obedience. Help me care for what matters to You. Help me feed Your lambs, tend Your sheep, and lead others toward righteousness by the power of Your Spirit.
Make my life shine with the brightness of Your truth, not for my glory, but for Yours.
Let my heart Love You, LORD, for the sake of the salvation of many.
