The Compassion of Jesus (Matthew 9:35-38)
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He told His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the LORD of harvest to send out laborers in His harvest.”
Heavenly Father, Creator of all things in heaven, on earth, and everything in them, hallow be thy name; let Your kingdom rise victoriously through Christ, Your Son, in us and through us as it is in heaven, and scatter the enemy who lurks about Your harvest, planting seeds of division and destruction. Your harvest is plentiful, and those You have gathered are searching for rest. LORD, give them rest from the labors of their oppressor/s. LORD, provide us with everything we need to help those whom You bring in our paths according to the richness of Your grace. Yes, the harvest is plentiful, and Your provisions are even more abundant than we can imagine; to God be the glory!
