Lord Jesus, we come softly before You. Forgive us for the ways we have tried to understand holy things without waiting on Your Spirit. Forgive us for drifting into weariness, striving, or silence when You were still near. Wash us again, and make our hearts tender to Your voice. Amen.
Morning Devotional for Day’s Journey
Led by the Spirit of Truth
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can bear. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will get what He will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said, the Spirit will get from Me what He will make known to you.”
Jesus told His disciples, “I have much more to say to you, more than you can bear.” What a tender mercy that is. The Lord knows our frame. He knows when the heart is weary. He sees when sorrow has dimmed our sight. He understands when the soul can’t carry one more explanation. He does not shame us for this. He promises help. Sometimes, He wants us to sit quietly so that He can embrace us. I need the tender embrace of God right now.
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.”
Sometimes we think fellowship with God means having clarity about everything. We long for a map, a formula, or a familiar feeling that tells us we are close to Him again. But fellowship is not built on mastering every mystery. It is built on being led.
To be led by the Spirit of truth means we do not have to force understanding before its time. We do not have to pretend strength when we are weary. We do not have to manufacture nearness. We can come honestly, and the Spirit will glorify Christ before us. He will take what belongs to Jesus and make it known in the way we can bear.
For ourselves, and for our children and their children, this matters deeply. We can’t hand down what only performance can sustain. But we can live in a way that says, “Holy Spirit, teach us. Lord Jesus, reveal the Father. Father, draw us near.” Sometimes the holiest inheritance is not certainty in every matter, but a life that knows how to return.
Fellowship with God looks simpler than we imagined. A quiet morning. An open Bible. A repentant heart. A whispered prayer. A willingness to obey the light we have already been given. The Spirit does not draw attention to Himself; He glorifies Christ. So when our hearts are turned again toward Jesus, truth is already doing its gentle work.
Today, let the burden of needing to define everything fall away. Ask only for the next step. The Spirit of truth is faithful to guide.
Sacred Pause
Where have I been trying to force clarity instead of waiting for the Spirit’s leading?
What simple act of fellowship is the Lord inviting me back into Today?
What do I want my children, and their children, to inherit from my walk with God?
Prayer of Repentance and Morning Hope
Heavenly Father,
I praise You as Lord of heaven and earth. You are holy, wise, and full of mercy. I confess that I have been uncertain and burdened at times. I have been unable to recognize what fellowship with You should look like in this season. Forgive me for striving where You were calling me to trust. Forgive me for leaning on my own understanding instead of waiting for the Spirit of truth.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your gentleness with us. Thank You that You do not place more on us than we can bear. You also give us Your Spirit to guide us. Draw me near again. Reveal the Father to me. Restore in me a simple and willing heart.
Holy Spirit, guide me into truth Today. Glorify Christ in my thoughts, my words, my choices, and my Love for others. Teach me how to walk with God in a way that is real, steady, and life-giving. And Lord, let this fellowship not stop with me, but flow to our children and their children. Give them hearts that hunger for truth and Love Your presence.
Lead me Today in the next right step. That is enough.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
