Day’s Journey Youth Reflection

Scripture Anchor:
“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
— Proverbs 13:20

Who you walk with matters.

The people you spend time with can help you grow closer to God, or they can pull you away from Him. Some friends encourage you to make wise choices. Others may pressure you to do things you already know are not right.

Proverbs 13:20 teaches us that walking with wise people helps us become wise too.

Wisdom is not just about being smart. Wisdom is knowing what is right and choosing to do it. Wisdom helps us pause before we speak, think before we act, and ask, “Will this choice lead me closer to Jesus, or farther away?”

Sometimes one small choice can lead us down the wrong path. One mean comment. One dishonest decision. One moment of anger. One friend keeps pulling us toward trouble.

But one wise choice can help keep us on the path of life.

A wise friend does not have to be perfect. A wise friend is someone who wants what is good, honest, and pleasing to God. A wise friend may encourage you, pray for you, kindly tell you the truth, or help you walk away from something harmful.

Wisdom still calls out Today.

She says, “Pause.”
She says, “Think.”
She says, “Choose what honors God.”
She says, “Walk with people who help you become more like Jesus.”

Even adults still need wisdom. No one outgrows the need for God’s guidance. We all need the LORD to help us choose our companions, guard our hearts, and walk in His ways.

So ask yourself:

Who is helping me walk with Jesus?
Who is pulling me away?
What kind of friend am I becoming?

May Wisdom guide your steps.
May Patience slow you down.
May Self-Control help you choose well.
May Love lead your heart.
May Mercy and Compassion shape how you treat others.

And may Jesus keep you on the path of life.

Think About It

Do your closest friends help you make wise choices, or do they pull you toward things that may harm you?

A Prayer for Youth

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for loving me and guiding me. Forgive me for the times I have followed foolishness, ignored wisdom, or allowed others to pull me away from what is right.

Help me choose wise companions. Help me become a wise friend, too.

Teach me to pause before I speak, think before I act, and listen when Your Spirit warns my heart.

Let Wisdom, Patience, Gentleness, Self-Control, Love, Mercy, and Compassion guide me.

Keep my loved ones and me on the path of life.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
